SHOPIFY V 2.0 - HELPFUL OR STRESSFUL?

Finally, after a couple years of wait, Shopify's first upgrade V2.0 is here. Millions of people were waiting for this. This feature gives more control of the merchant, client, customer, or developer to the store. Shopify Unite 2021 made the dream of various customers and merchants came true with the new version of Shopify.

Here are a few upgrades that are made in the new version of Shopify.

1. Creating Page Templates with ease.

How do I make changes to this page on my own? How can I move the sections? How to edit this page?

So many questions are there in the customer's mind regarding making changes to any page on Shopify. Previously the customer can only make changes to the HomePage with a few clicks and was unable to make changes to the rest of the pages like Product Page, Collections Page, Static pages. Most people went with the Page Builder Shopify Apps.

Shopify took it very seriously and came with the new feature. Now you can make changes/edits to any page from the backend itself the way you edit your HomePage. Making it the most user-friendly platform among its competitors. Now you can say Goodbye to your page builder apps and can create new templates without editing the code. Isn't it great?!

2. Customizable Metafields

This is one of the important upgrades in terms of displaying more data for the products like descriptions. You can display more content on the product page as compared to Shopify V1.0. In the previous version, you can only add title, description, price and variants, and a couple more basic details. Now you can add more details for the products like size chart, ingredients, dimensions and various other things.

3, Removing the app code when the app is deleted/removed

Previously when you installed an app, and after working with the app for a couple of days, you decided to delete that app. You deleted the app but the code of the app remains in the code of the store. You need to do that manually. It is the major thing that affects the speed of a website.

With the new version, Shopify has given the feature where if you delete the app, automatically the complete code is removed. You don't need to manually go in and remove the unused code from the store. A very required feature for almost all the customers.

4. Customizable Checkout

Guess what?! Finally, here it is most important for the client's not to use a Plus plan. Customizable Checkout. Yes, you can customize your checkout on any plan of your Shopify store. This is the most awaited feature for most of the customers who do not want to shift to the Plus plan but want to make changes on the checkout page. Now even you can install apps that can make custom changes to your checkout page.

5. New Developer Tools

With the new upgrade and new launch of the Shopify V2.0, it has given many new tools to the developers as well. Now, the developers can easily create various different apps on Shopify, do the testing, and run the app with more flexibility with the new features of Shopify.

6. Github Integration with Shopify

The most hardcore developers who have worked with so many different platforms mostly prefer Github to write codes.

The most hardcore developers who have worked with so many different platforms mostly prefer Github to write codes

Shopify has taken care of them as well with a new integration with Github. Now you can easily maintain, track and manage the code on Github directly. The changes are directly pushed to Github and pulled to a repository that's in sync with the current state of themes.

So lastly, the main questions arise. Is the new version of Shopify V2.0 helpful or stressful for everyone?

The answer to this question is pretty straightforward. Of course, the new version is most helpful for everyone who is familiar with Shopify whether it be the owner of a Shopify Store or the developer working on the store. Having so many new features and upgrades makes Shopify the best e-commerce platform across the globe.
